Restoring lost partition files on an NTFS computer

NTFS partitions are generally only damaged due to logic crash failure. However occasionally human error may play a role in shutting down a drive in such a way as to create a need for NTFS partition recovery. Normally an error in reformatting is based upon a solid state or hard disk drive being changed from the FAT32 file system to the newer NTFS. But in rare instances users can reformat a FAT32 digital media device such as a USB flash drive into the NTFS format. This results in massive file loss as sectors holding data are overwritten.

To recover NTFS partition files lost due to reformatting of a partition you will need a third party utility for NTFS partition recovery. These tools will scan your computer’s hard drive partitions and return to you a list of all damaged files. The files will have been deleted or damaged by reformatting using the incorrect file system. Most of the listed files will be available for recovery.
