Retrieving files from flash memory storage
I have often wondered what the differences between the internal workings of an SD card, USB flash drive or an MMC card were. The primary difference between these is the ability to adapt for different formats or shall we say formatting. As the SD card is an evolution of the earlier MMC card the formatting used on these is fairly similar. A USB flash drive on the other hand is a more independent system and not always compatible with formatting from non-Windows operating systems. When we attempt to recover deleted photos from SD card media these differences in formatting become an important factor.
To undelete pictures from SD card storage we use a basic digital media recovery program such as those made available by Remo Software. SD cards support all Windows digital storage formats such as FAT and NTFS along with Mac HFS. Remo Software offers data recovery for both Windows and Mac systems.
